Frequently asked questions

Which assessments are available through Quest?

Quest offers standardised assessments in Maths, English, Science, and Cognitive Potential for pupils from Year 1 to Year 8, alongside Wellbeing surveys to measure attainment, potential, and attitudes.

For younger learners, our standardised EYFS and Phonics assessments provide a strong foundation for tracking early development and progress.

What was the sample size used to standardise the Quest assessments?

Quest’s data is standardised on one of the largest and most recent national samples with fresh content.

Assessments are standardised on data from over 30,000 pupils across the UK, giving schools accurate and reliable benchmarks.

And we’re not done yet…we’re continuing our standardisation; soon our partner schools will be able to compare to both a national sample and to schools with very similar demographics, e.g., independent vs state, selective vs non-selective, high or low PP / FSM / SEN / EAL, by geography and so on!

How much training will our staff need?

Quest is really easy to use - it’s designed to be accessible to everyone but that doesn’t mean we don’t offer training and ongoing support. In fact, we feel exceptional support is just as important as the product itself!

Every school receives training and your own personal account manager will support you to ensure you’re getting the most from the data and reporting.

Are Quest assessments accessible to all pupils?

All assessments comply with full Ofqual guidance, including extra time functionality, dyslexia-friendly fonts, full screen mode, text-to-speech and the option to pause for movement or toilet breaks, so every pupil can perform at their best.

Quest works well on any device, including tablets.

Are Quest Assessments available online or on paper?

Both - Quest assessments can be taken online on any device (including tablets) or they can be printed for paper-based use

Digital assessments are automatically and immediately marked but even our paper assessments only take a few minutes to mark thanks to OMR technology.

We’re on a mission to reduce workload!

How helpful is Quest for SATs preparation?

Quest is designed first and foremost to give schools objective, reliable progress data and rich insights, helping you track attainment, identify gaps early, and avoid surprises at the end of Key Stage 2.

When it comes to SATs, Quest plays a key role in preparation through built-in SATs familiarisation:

  • Questions reflect the proportional content coverage and difficulty of past SATs papers.

  • Objectives are directly aligned with the KS2 testing frameworks and SATs content domains.

  • Diagnostic insights begin from Year 3, with QLAs linked to SATs strands for early intervention.

However, Quest is not intended to replace past SATs papers. The most effective preparation combines Quest’s ongoing diagnostic assessments to track progress and close gaps, with the use of past SATs papers for final-stage exam practice under timed conditions.

Is Quest Progress useful for groups of schools / multi-academy trusts?

Quest is the first platform to give group executives a true birdseye view of what’s happening across their schools with objective (can’t be manipulated), reliable, and consistent data in real time.

Group executives can measure key group stats, flag high-priority schools and dive into an individual school’s data at the click of a button for more granular data and reporting.

Learn more on our Group Executive page.

What reports will we get?

Multi-level reports are available at group / trust, whole school, year group, class and pupil levels.

Data is presented through interactive dashboards, digestible PDF reports and downloadable spreadsheets if you’d like to store the data elsewhere - we’ll connect with your MIS.

You can zoom in and out of whatever you’re most interested in, spot trends and triangulate data to maximise learnings.

How much does Quest cost?

You’ll get much more for much less with Quest - assessment and progress tracking have become far too expensive for schools and groups!

Pricing starts from £1.50 per pupil per assessment, with discounts for groups and bundled packages.

Visit our pricing page for more information.

Will Quest Progress work with our curriculum?

All Quest assessments align with the National Curriculum and draw on key frameworks such as Development Matters and the Ready-to-Progress criteria.

The content and progression mirror classroom teaching across major schemes, including but not limited to White Rose Maths and Read Write Inc., ensuring assessments align with what pupils have been taught.

How is Quest Progress different from other assessment providers?

Quest is designed to be more than a simple record of data - this is progress tracking with purpose!

By partnering with Quest, you will radically reduce workload for your colleagues and provide clear, curriculum-aligned insights. It is easy to implement, and data is presented in a digestible way that encourages action by making the next steps crystal clear.
